VCE MATHS METHODS TUTORING

Let’s be real – Methods is challenging. It’s meant to be. But it’s also incredibly rewarding when it finally clicks. Whether you’re aiming for engineering, science, or just love the satisfaction of solving complex problems, we’ll help you master both the concepts and the problem-solving techniques you need to excel.

What You'll Cover With Us

Functions and Graphs

This is where it all starts. You’ll work with everything from basic polynomials to exponentials and trigonometric functions. More importantly, you’ll learn to understand how these functions behave and why – skills that make later topics like calculus far more intuitive!

Calculus

Calculus is truly the heart of methods. Differentiation and integration may seem daunting at first, but they’re actually powerful tools that help us understand rates of change, find optimal solutions, and calculate areas in ways that would be otherwise impossible. Once you get it, you’ll see why calculus changed mathematics forever.

Probability and Statistics

How do we make sense of random events? From analysing probability distributions to making statistical inferences, you’ll learn to work with uncertainty and data in ways that are crucial for fields like economics, science and data analysis

How It's Assessed

Your methods score comes from:

40%

SACs

School-based tasks spread across Units 3 and 4

60%

Two final exams

One without technology (20%), and one with your CAS calculator (40%)

How We Teach Methods

Methods isn’t about memorising formulas or following templates. It’s about understanding patterns and developing problem-solving skills that work across different types of questions.

We focus on:

  • Breaking down complex problems into manageable steps
  • Building rock-solid fundamentals before tackling harder concepts
  • Showing you how to avoid common mistakes that cost marks
  • Teaching you how to use your CAS calculator effectively (without becoming dependent on it)

Most importantly, we adapt to how you think. Some students are visual learners. Others need to understand the real world applications. Some just want to know the underlying logic. Whatever works for you, we’ll find it.

Beyond Year 12

The skills you’ll develop in Methods – logical thinking, problem-solving, attention to detail – these stay with you long after the exams are done. Whether you’re heading into engineering, science or any field that uses quantitative thinking, you’ll be glad you put in the work here.

Methods doesn’t have to feel like an uphill battle. Let’s turn those moments of confusion into moments of clarity.
