VCE LEGAL STUDIES TUTORING

When a new law makes headlines, a landmark court decision reshapes society, or constitutional reform sparks national debate, do you find yourself wanting to understand more? VCE Legal Studies takes you inside Australia’s legal system, revealing how our laws are made, interpreted and reformed. From criminal trials to civil disputes, from parliamentary debates to High Court decisions, you’ll discover how justice is pursued and rights are protected in our democracy.

What You'll Cover With Us

Rights and Justice (Unit 3)

Criminal Justice System: Explore how our courts determine guilt and innocence. You’ll examine the roles of judges, lawyers and juries, analyse the rights of the accused and victims, and evaluate whether our system achieves justice. Through real cases and scenarios, you’ll understand how criminal sanctions aim to protect society while serving multiple purposes from punishment to rehabilitation.

Civil Justice System: Discover how our legal system resolves disputes between individuals and organisations. You’ll investigate different methods of dispute resolution, from mediation to court proceedings, and examine how remedies aim to restore justice. You’ll evaluate whether our civil justice system provides fair, equal, and accessible justice for all.

The People, the Law and Reform (Unit 4)

Law-Making Powers: Understand how our Constitution divides power between state and federal parliaments, and how the High Court interprets these divisions. You’ll explore how courts make law through precedent and statutory interpretation, and examine the relationship between parliament and courts in developing our laws.

Law Reform: Investigate how laws change to meet society’s evolving needs. You’ll examine the roles of individuals, groups and the media in law reform, and explore how bodies like Royal Commissions and Law Reform Commissions influence change. You’ll analyse constitutional reform processes, including referendums, and evaluate recent examples of legal change in action.
